Patrick Townsend designed the Orbit Chandelier to resemble the solar system. This modern chandelier light fixture is a modern classic. It utilizes a tension/compression design based on the same principle as a suspension bridge. The individual parts of this chandelier have an industrial vibe but the whole forms “a delicately woven pattern of energy” - a statement piece like no other. The 40 white bulbs glow with a whimsical energy. Illuminating a room has never been so interesting. 336 total watts light output. Dimmable. Two missing bulbs. Replacement bulbs available from Areaware, Townsend Design and elsewhere. The chandelier portion is 35 in diameter, 35 in tall; 43 in cord. Excellent used condition, consistent with age and use.

Designer bio from Areaware website: "Patrick Townsend was born in Manhattan and raised in Vermont. Trained in industrial design at Pratt Institute, he founded his namesake firm in 1998. In addition to producing its own line of lighting and furniture, Townsend Design also fabricates high-end custom furniture and interior architectural fixtures for New York’s top architects and interior designers. His Orbit Chandelier, described as “a delicately woven pattern of energy”, has been exhibited at Terminal 5, Living Spaces and Tokyo Designers Block."
